Question

Gases are more compressible than liquids explain why?

Solution

The inter molecular space of liquid is much less than that of gas. Thus, when a liquid is compressed, there is a resistance due to repulsion between the electron clouds of different molecules. On the other hand, gases have high compressibility owing to large intermolecular space and weak attractive force. Because of high compressibility, a large volume of gas can be squeezed into a smaller volume.
