Chapter: Behaviour of Gases
Question
Why does the volume of a gas increase on increasing its number of moles at a given temperature and pressure?
Solution
According to Avogadro’s law, at a given temperature and pressure the volume of a gas is directly proportional to its number of moles. Therefore, if the number of moles of a gas increases at a constant temperature and pressure, its volume also increases.
