Question

What are geysers?

Solution

In certain areas below the surface of the earth, hot magma swells up into the crust, but remains trapped below the surface of the earth. Such areas in the earth’s crust are called hotspots. When these hotspots are nearer to the surface of the earth, the water which seeps through gets converted to steam and comes out of the rocks in the upper layer (crust) of the earth with great force. These are called geysers.
