Question

Two wires, one of copper and other of manganin, have equal length and equal resistances. Which wire is thicker? Given that resistivity of copper is lower than that of manganin.

Solution

For same length and resistance, the wire having greater resistivity needs to be thicker than the other. Hence, the wire of manganin is thicker in this case. For same length and resistance, the wire having greater resistivity needs tobe thickerthanthe other. Hence, the wire of manganin is thicker in this case.
