Question

R.l of kerosene oil is 1.44 and that of water is 1.33. A ray of light enters from kerosene oil to water. Where would light ray bend?

Solution

Since water is less dense than kerosene (since µw <µk), hence the ray of light, after refraction, shall bend away from the normal making angle of refraction inside water more than the angle of incidence inside kerosene oil.
